well for me as a fujoshi YAOI is just a part of my life. The thing that makes yaoi so special for me is that the stories are often much more interesting than those of hetero stories. For us, long time fujoshis, we have been reading a lot of hetero books and watched hella lot of hetero movies so for us it is basically predictable. Yaoi for us is a v...... reply
This is really funny because I wasn't always a fujoshi. When I started reading manga in high school, it was mainly shoujo or jousei that I was reading. It wasn't till I got to college that I got more into BL. For me, I don't like to call BL "gay hentai" because that is a blanket statement. Hentai is porn, and porn doesn't have very interesting plot...... reply
special reason ???
I do not have one, I just like manga,
and it's not just about the yaoi genre,
The world of manga and anime is very interesting,
I love authors who create twisted, sweet, serious, etc. stories,
it's good to tear yourself away from the reality,
and how they are drawn (they have talent)

why I love yaoi more than any other type of romance is because the men are more emotional to each other than in the straight relationships. Plus I love the Manxman ( just like men love to get off on femalexfemale it's the same for yaoi ).
ps. I don't really like watch straight relationships because the women are too innocent or when they sleep wit...... reply
I think people are so drawn in by yaoi because it's so hard to find media representation of male struggles with romance and feeling. In all other media the stereotypical idea of 'manliness' and guys being all tough and above feelings is pushed and presented in every possible way. In yaoi, you get a romantic plot between two guys that just kinda hel...... 2 reply
I get asked the same question all the time because I only and exclusively read or watch BL stuff (manga, TV series, films, books, etc.). There are 3 things I find most fascinating about Yaoi;
1) The plots : I found many Yaoi stories with very interesting plots which I have never seen before in the work of other romance of other genres (like heter...... 2 reply
One of the reasons for me, is to see guys be so tender with each other, and so affectionate. It's adorable. It's cuz guys are always told to be super manly and not show emotion and all that, so something like yaoi is so refreshing. Of course, this is also why I like shounen ai, or even non-romantic bromances.
I don't think it's a superior form of...... reply
Well, as you said it's gay hentai but it's more than that.
For me, what made it special is the sex scenes and the plot, for a good yaoi. A few years ago, there were not many josei/seinen with explicit sex scenes. Now, a lot of webtoon, for example, are hentai-ish, unlike before.
Besides, a lot of yaoi have a very good plot that changes from the t...... 1 reply
Can fujoshis please explain to me what they find so interesting about yaoi? I've seen a lot of fujoshis that put yaoi up on a pedestal like it's the superior form of media, when it's really just gay hentai
I can enjoy a good BL story, but I'm confused as to why some fujoshis argue that it's better than stories with hetero relationships, and even going as far as to say "it would be better if it was yaoi"
I hope nobody takes this the wrong way. I'm just very curious to hear others' opinions on the matter
