My absolute least favourite trends are anything that portrays a really awful and toxic relationship; rape, verbal/mental/physical abuse, forgiving and justifying and even romanticsing the abuser, a rival character as a plot device to torture or unnecessarily create conflict for the couple, bad communication and silly miscommunications.

I don't know if this is a trend or not, but there is anthology with this theme, the least favorite thing in yaoi to me is when girls involved. Not when they become supporting figure, but when they become the third wheel, or when this girl like a guy but turn out he is gay. It's hurting me so much and can relate as much. I know what your talking about. It’s a one shot in a compilation. Or maybe a one shot after a longer unrelated manga. I’ll try and find it. While I wasn’t a huge fan of that particular story, I seem to remember that I quite liked the other story/stories in that manga.
