Thankyou everyone for your opinions! I was so scared to ask such a serious topic on this platform. What if i get hated? Or what if i created a war? But you were all so kind to share your thoughts with me and being so open minded about it. Now i can see the problem with a second point of view. Now i really have to agree with "rape disguised as roman...... reply
My only real complaint is that it tends to be overused to the point where
you just get tired of it after awhile. It's mostly used to rush the romance along,
and just feels like lazy writing. Also the uke almost always ends up being a pushover
who can't stand up for himself, and always lets the seme control everything he does,
what friends he ca...... 1 reply
Don't care if its fictional or non-fictional hate rape and thats the end of story. Sex is a bond for human beings and is the closet way to be with loved ones. Hate how rape is sometimes thought okay because its disgusting. However there are some scenes in mangas, manhwa and fanfic where characters have sex but the other is sort of hesitant because...... reply
I don't understand how anyone can take a romance seriously with rape involved. Of course it's fiction, but if the characters are supposed to be in love then how would it make sense for one to force sex on the other? That's not love, and I don't understand how it ever became popularized as some romantic gesture. 1 reply

Rape has been part of romance for as long as stories have been told and written. And there is a good reason for it. As humans, we desire things and we are greedy by nature. However, the things that help us ...... 7 reply
The problem is not depicting rape in itself, but doing it in exploitative ways, or conflating it with acts of romance and love. Countless abusive relationship in real life share features common in romance stories (gay or hetero). It's not only forced intercourse, it often comes bundled with irrational jealousy, possessiveness, controlling behavior ...... reply
I wouldn't really mind seeing rape in fiction as long as it's used as a plot device for character development.
But what crosses the line is when rape is romanticed as something romantic. It baffles me how much rape is in yaoi and how the rapist still get the victim in the end. I know it's just fiction, but if you portray it as 'sexy' and 'romantic'...... 1 reply
I don't mind rape in fiction whether it's played straight or its "romantized". It's fiction, the character is going to react however the author wants them to. I understand it can trigger some survivors, but on the other hand sometimes it doesn't. Rape in real life makes me wish a slow and painful death to the rapist because when it happens to peopl...... 2 reply
I have no problem with an author exploring the effects of a traumatic event on a character, rape being one of them. What I DO have a problem with is that I can only name two BL works that actually do that.
Either the rape is played completely for fanservice and never actually referred to as rape even though one partner was repeatedly telling the o...... reply
