uhhhh, bl is a genre. it isn’t fetishizing unless the bl itself has an issue or the reader has a issue. not every straight female reads bl because the characters are two men (sorta like you said)...
bl doesn’t belong to anyone or any group, that would be like straights saying they claim shoujo and if anyone else even touches it they are despic...... 2 reply
as a gay women reading bl, i sort of agree with the statement. Anyone can go ahead and enjoy reading bl, it is a genre, because of you're going to say that cis people reading lgbt content is fetishising, then so is lgbt people reading cis content.
There is a line where i draw it though. As long as the cis (straight women) understands that it's sim...... 1 reply
I'm not straight, but I'm a bi female and in my opinion a lot of people that read it truly do fetishize it. You can see that specially in the younger ones that go to the extra mile of actually fetishizing real gay guys and shipping friends to their faces which in turn ends up ruining some of those friendships.
As someone who was also on that extr...... 1 reply
Um no. There are countless gay men that love Yaoi and BL and they themselves have straight female friends that they enjoy chatting about to. As long as the yaoi/bl you read is healthy, as in no abuse or rape or anything crazy then it's fine. It's like saying gay people that read or watch straight romance stuff are fetishizing straight people. Don't...... 4 reply
Yaoi/BL is a fictional genre. It is no different from other genres, nobody owns this genre either. There's a huge difference between fetishization and enjoying the genre. People still don't get that and it pisses me off. YOU. DO. NOT. GET. TO. CHOSE. YOUR. SEXUALITY. OR. THINGS. YOU. LIKE. HOW ARE PEOPLE SHITTING ON STRAIGHTS AND PRAISING GAY PEOPL...... 5 reply
Not just straight women. All non-mlm people, lgbt+ people included.
Y'all also have this weirdly strict and narrow view of fetishization and like, you can be fetishizing something even if you're not getting your rocks off to it. It is not nor has it ever been a requirement or a prerequisite that something must be subjected to being used for sexual...... reply
Just gonna say that cis straight women shouldn’t be part of this conversation/debate at all. Why the fuck do some cishets think they get to talk over us and decide what’s actually oppression. You (not op just cishet women in general. Idk if they are one) can rant to me about what’s actually queer oppression once you’ve been abandoned by you...... 4 reply
this is my opinion . so just gay people can real bl and gl? only straight people can read straight couple ? only people who have mental illness can read a story that have psychological on the tag ? what I meant is everybody is free to read whatever they want . reading something doesnt mean we fetishizing it . for me , I read it because they seem m...... 2 reply
I'm a straight female, but one of the reasons I read BL is so that I wouldn't have to compare myself to the other females if it was in a heterosexual relationship in manga/manhwa. But I also read them too! I just want to see almost everyone's relationship grow and work out! It's really cute when they achieve their happy ending! I've got nothing aga...... reply
