Should I stop reading yaoi?

Ok so hopefully I don’t get absolutely bashed on this. I am a cis straight female and I like reading yaoi. I’ve been seeing many posts on tiktok and even this site saying yaoi is bad because it fetishizes mlm relationships. I don’t read yaoi just for the explicit scenes. I really love the plots and storylines that some yaoi’s have. For example, lets say cherry blossoms after winter. I absolutely loved the plot and storyline. When I saw the explicit scenes I was actually shocked but also I couldn’t care less about them because I was there for the plot. Lots of yaoi have scenes with rape which people just think is ok and skip over it like it’s nothing. That’s when people who say yaoi is bad comes through because lots of yaoi just normalizes this and the readers who read them don’t care about it either. However I actually do care when rape shows up and no one cares about it. I always complain or say something about it since it’s not correct. Also I know stuff that happens in yaoi is not realistic to actual mlm relationships irl.

Side note: if you read yaoi just for those explicit scenes and if you think yaoi is what an actual mlm relationship is you fetishize mlm.

I’m like actually scared to tell anyone I read yaoi now since I don’t want to be attacked. I’ve been seeing people get attacked on tiktok for liking yaoi and I honestly don’t want that to happen to me. Is yaoi really that bad? I know that yaoi and mlm irl are way different from each other. I don’t fetishize gay men either. I know the differences between the two but still should I stop reading yaoi. Two reasons are because I’m straight and yaoi “fetishizes” mlm. I don’t want to be known as someone who fetishizes mlm since I 100% support the lgbtq community. I’m just having a hard time deciding if I’m really in the wrong for liking yaoi. If I am I will automatically stop reading yaoi. I really just don’t want to get attacked or make people feel uncomfortable.
