Do you guys read reviews of an anime before watching?
When I look for new anime to watch, the first site that comes to my mind is mal and when I find one I somehow automatically just...scroll down and look at the reviews T_T and theres tons of spoilers. This also happens when i watch 5-7 episodes and then i have a sudden urge to know what other people think about it. Now this habit has caused so many problems when I'm thinking about how much I've enjoyed the anime, the reviews come to my mind and I end up thinking I didn't enjoy it. It changes my opinion, my true opinion about the anime.
This is like a drug to me, its bad and I do it again and again.
Ok my life story is over (=・ω・=) what about you guys I'm sure most of you don't read right? Or are there people like me out there?
Yep, I do. I can't help it. I need to know what ppl think and the plot. Sometimes I get carried away and it ends up being boring and sometimes it's worth it, obviously. But I'm also trying not to judge before watching cause I'm sure some animes that I didn't get to watch are actually pretty good and it's just me the one who builds the wall every ti...... 1 reply
= yeah, especially when I'm on my first year of watching anime. but I learned to search on my own and I discovered so many good gems. like Tsuritama and Mushishi to name a few. = reply
I don't bother with anything, neither reviews nor the genres. For me the first thing that makes me decide whether I want to watch something or not is the first key visual that's presented to me. I'm mostly on proxer.me to watch Anime and there I don't really bother reading news about new Anime and stuff, as well if key visuals are provided. I seldo...... reply
Not usually. If it's a couple paragraphs, they're pretty good and even if they themselves don't like it, the reviewer is like "if you like...watch it." However I've noticed a lot of people who review every single episode and they just end up hating everything and hanging on useless details that have no relevance. anime is a hobby for most people, n...... 2 reply
Reviews give me a bias, I am more inclined to agree with a review if I watched/read it before watching the anime. So I just jump into it, if something about an anime grabs my attention, I will watch it. If I'm looking for something to watch, I go to the a-z list, start from a and work my way down lol reply
I do that with video games, but not for anime, due to my very subjective sense of humor & being let down by a lot of comedy recommendations. I guess when you've been watching anime for more than half your life, you get picky & can't watch just anything like when you were new to anime.
I actually use TV Tropes to look up a subject I'm interested in...... reply
in anime, first I read the tags and genres. ganre besically tell you what it is in one word with no spoilers. [drama, trugady, shonan, shoujo]
since I grow up and seen a lot of anime in my life, I tend to like very specific ganres and be very picky. most of the long run anime I didn't like, so I give a new anime 3-5 episodes test

I don't, I usually read a brief description or go in totally blind. It's more fun that way! Plus, I have weird tastes in anime and don't always agree with what the majority opinion is. Though I also have a 3 episode rule enacted! If I'm not feeling it after 3 episodes I drop the anime and forget about it XD I've been told that's not the proper way ...... reply
