Hey asexual people, why do you like yaoi?
I'm actually asexual myself and I was quite surprised to see so many people who are also ace on this site! This is a question I've been asked before and I'm curious as to how others might answer as well.
Personally, I really enjoy reading about relationships between other people. I think that there's a part of me who really likes that fact that BL is between two boys, and that I (as a girl) could never put myself in either character's place.
I read yaoi because of the fact that most straight manga is full of unrelatable characters. A lot of what I've read are usually either quirky in a cute way, dumb but loveable, or just a plain Mary sue. There's not a lot of flaws or character development going on. I feel the exact way like seeing a relationship between two men is very interesting and love seeing it since I would never be in a relationship like that since I'm a girl. Even though I love these sweet stories about these relationships I my self am heterosexual. reply

1) Fluff and feels. Yeah, I'm aro ace but I still enjoy heartwarming manga. I avoid smutty works and skim over graphic scenes when they pop up.

Personally, if it's got a good plot with interesting characters, I'll read it, be it Yaoi, Yuri, Shonen, Shojo, whatever. However, though I don't get turned onto the sex scenes in Yaoi like I'm sure many readers do, I like how men fit together in an aesthetic sense. I find it pleasing on the eye. I had never really thought about why i like Yaoi so much. but after giving it some thought i think its because of alot of the reasons everyone else mentioned. I'm a woman who identifies as fujoshi-asexual. I'm a strict voyeur & I don't want to have sex personally. I also just don't feel comfortable seeing women have sex at all. Although I'm still young I'm actually "experienced" and I decided I don't enjoy sex at all. Also love is pointless to me, I'd rather read about it. I just love how cliche yaoi can be and how I can almost accurately predict what will happen next! I can see how authors bounce ideas off of each other, it's so cool and dramatic! reply
