I think you should just be honest and tell them you forgot. Apologise a lot and say that you'll get them a present soon (like real soon). Then ask if there's anything you can do for them in the meantime (e.g. massage, home cooked meal, maybe play some board games together, whatever they like doing). Good luck! reply
