Things that I hate in BL!
I a lot of yaoi, and I do this not just for the sex, I do this because I hope that I would find some good plot! Yeah, I'm one of the people who read yaoi for the plot and not for the sex. I would just start with the biggest problem in yaoi manga - rape. Trust me I read a lot of manga in my life, in the yaoi community rape is like the start of a relationship, and it seems like people are okay with this. The part that I love the most in rape is when the one who was raped just like "Oof, I was raped. Well, now I'm in love". The second problem is how yaoi works, I noticed that in a lot of yaoi manga the characters fuck ones and maybe twice in the first chapter. I just feel like the author doesn't give a shit about the plot, and just wanted to draw porn. Then there is the third problem - love. So the characters know each other for a week, and after that, I have to believe that they're in love. Then the mental health problem comes. I hate when the character has a big psychological problem, but at the end of the manga, it just disappears, because of love guess. Also, I love how after the characters tell they're painful background stories - they fuck because apparently, you can't do anything except fucking.
Oof, that was quite a lot, sorry (〜￣△￣)〜 My English is not perfect so sorry for that either. It was more of a conversation because I had to finally write everything that annoys for a long time.

1. when rape is used as a plot device instead actually developing the relationship through character development and is never mentioned again
2. when the victim (which is usually the bottom lbh) still falls in love with the rapist
3. omegaverse in general ew

I love yaoi but there are some things I absolutely cannot stand:
1. Rape in any way, shape or form. Especially when the victim ends up falling in love with the rapist. I understand some people find it cute or hot or whatever while never actually tolerating it in real life, but there's a point where you have to question exactly what about rape turn...... 3 reply
Everyone here has already stated the obvious but I hate when women in BL are constantly made out to be one-dimensional thots whose sole purpose is to fuck shit up for the uke and seme's relationship. Can't we just have some supportive female characters for once?

Rape and toxic relationships in yaoi is the norm unfortunately. That's why I prefer shounen ai stories, since they're the ones who seem to be trying to tell a story instead of just being porn.
Because at the end of the day, that's the difference. Shounen Ai are love stories whereas yaoi has a 30% chance of being a well written porn and 70% chance ...... 2 reply
I can agree with you, the amount of rape in yaoi is disgusting and the fact that it's a plot device suggesting something fucked up needs to happen to either of the characters for them to enter a relationship. I know yaoi doesn't speak for the community of gay men but it has the effect of making people think that a gay couple can't fall in love like...... 1 reply

I hate that most yaoi are only made for the smut and stuff and not an actual plot. It's like they just wanted to see some comic smut. I want a nice sweet soft smut plot for once.

What I hate the most is that most yaoi relationships paint romance between men in a very bad light. Seriously, most of the relationships are very unhealthy with the "dominate" one abusing their partner to some extent, be it physically, emotionally, or mentally, yet that seems to be what fans love and find so appealing about it. The one thing that I've hated the most about BL, firstly, is how the uke has to look and and also be weak as fuck so that the seme always gets to save the day. The second thing I hate is the way that their relationship begins after the uke gets raped by the seme like nothing happened.
