Characters with light skin ( idk if I can say that ) are really good, but I really wanna see more dark skinned seme / uke. I mean I don't mind reading a bl where the seme is light skinned and the uke is dark skinned and vice versa, but why not having both characters dark skinned? + I think that characters with black eyes and hair are good looking too, and they kinda give that mysterious air about them, so why not having seme AND uke both with those criterioa? + we're in 2019, why not trying to have a badass , manly , independent uke? ( like the one in midnight rain ) , and A seme can be vulnerable sometimes. That makes the story more realistic.
I mean It's just my opinion. what's do you think about it? And what you wanna " change " about yaoi ?
I think that many common BL tropes are super toxic and we should stop saying "that's just how it is" or "read something else" instead of thinking critically about it and expecting more. SO many things can be changed, too much in fact for me to think of all on the spot so here's a few:
-Normalizing rape tropes by romanticizing them or glossing that shit over. You can add that shit in horror, psychological etc. type plots but it's not romantic and shouldn't be treated as such.

Weak and dumb characters makes me lose interest. Why can't we have dynamic characters that actually change theirselves for theirselves and not because Person A doesn't like them. 1) There isn't enough omegaverse stories that revolves around the social hierarchy. A lot of omegaverses revolves around sex and rape, understandably so, but I hope that there are more stories out there that explores the whole idea of omegaverse as a socio-political concept.

I don't care for the seme/uke thing in my BL. I'm not against it or anything I just don't see why you would specifically prefer it that way. To be fair though it would be annoying if both characters were uke's because the plot would never get anywhere and two seme's sounds more like a porno.
