My supposedly "gay" best friend, said that, they're gay because gay people are funny. Of course, I thought that was fucking stupid so I asked if he has any interest in guys. He said he doesn't want to date any guys, but do want male friends, and I'm just stuck being confused. I don't want to lose our friendship by saying he's being rude, because he gets real defensive whenever I say shit like that, so I don't know what to do, help??

Being gay is not an accesory or a medal. You need to tell him its not okay to claim youre gay just because they're "funny" and if he gets defensive again, then you should probably drop him. But there are possibilities that he IS actually gay so maybe talk it out. reply

Don't say anything about that topic for a while, like for few years. Let him figure things out by himself. If he still doesn't try to change after that period of time them cut ties with him. reply
I really do not think you should be assuming his sexual identity and rather leave him be. He might date guys or not, but I don't really think that has to do with you. You should be giving him space and let him sort it himself. And please do not assume someone else's identity without knowing all their thoughts and interests; that isn't nice too. 2 reply
