My parents want me to work out
Hey people, i want to vent. I've been really sport depressed for two months now(ye..) and so i wanted to work out again and my parents talked about it with me and i was kinda excited to start but then my dad said 'you need to do sport to attract girls. ' and the idea of doing sport again after he said that turned me off. i'm a gay male and all my life people have told me to work out/do sport not to be healthy but in a toxic masculinity way (just to get girls basically) and idk what to do
Bro, your father radiates toxic masculinity. Ignore his words. If you love sports for the sake of doing it, continue. You know deep down why you are doing it and it is def not to attracted ladies so go work out hun. reply
i- what-? ignore his words and play sports to stay healthy or because you want to have fun. please im a girl and i love jogging but does that mean i love it because i want to attract guys or sumn? no, it just makes me feel good. dont let what he says limit what you do. as long as you know why you're doing it you're fine. reply
Dint listen to your father or anyone else who tells you that. Just have fun working out the way you want. if your parents have a problem with it then its not your fault, is theirs. Ignore their words and just be yourself. reply
If you really love working out and sports, definitely do it. I can guarantee that most girls don't really care for the guys that workout and are gym crazy (not that it matters cause ur gay but search up the male vs female gaze towards beauty standards cause it explains a lot of this). Hope everything gets better! reply
Do whaterver you want to do for yourself not for anyone else. Let them delude themselves if they want. You know who you are and that's what matters. reply
Don't do it and do what makes you comfortable. Women aren't as materialistic as toxic masculinity addicted men make them out to be. So be you and disregard your dad's stupid "advice". reply
I'm sure this isn't what you're looking for, but I'd say men can appreciate a toned body just as much as women do. Working out is also attractive from a personality perspective, since it shows ability to work hard and commit. As for if you should do it, that's down to what makes you happy. Some people do it because they like looking good, some want...... reply
