I didn't really know what "black-washing" was until I came across a video of someone making Senku have a darker skin tone with Afrocentric features, As a Black person (from the Caribbean) im confused on the reason for that? My stance on this is shaky, and I would really like if you guys would share ur opinion on it.

Black washing doesn’t exist lol. Most people don’t even do it for representation, it’s just fun lol. Most the time, it’s just to see themselves in their favorite characters lol. I think its hypocritical of people finding it fine. While I understand wanting to have more representation its disrespectful to those in the asian and european communities to have their culture, ethnicity and race erased. I have a bit of a shaky stance as well. on one side i can see how people would want to make their character maybe darker, but at the same time i kinda.. i dont know how to explain it lol, just rubs me the wrong way. but at the end of the day i don't think it's harming anyone so im not gonna make anyone change the way they draw or anything. reply

There's no such thing, and there isn't an issue with changing up the character to be a poc or black, sure it may be a bit odd to you but it isn't hurting anyone. When you're making them white, that can be problematic because to others it makes it look like you're trying to remove them as a poc, and make them white to make them more "likeable" takin...... 1 reply
