reading bl is so exhausting for a number of reasons (at least for me) and yes it is not a representation of the community itself so it's honestly fucking disgusting when some would equate it to reality. it's also horrifying that individuals who are self-proclaimed homophobic would admit with their whole chest that they fetishize gay men and it makes me sick. plus the underlying misogynistic theme of a lot of bl titles
(bi guy here), considering that most bl is written by straight women, it is not very realistic. but it can still be interesting to read. there's a lot of harmful stereotypes within the stories though, and it usually does not make for good representation (like you said). straight people don't understand that bl is not reality. gay people exist and a...... 3 reply
