Why yaoi semes have shitty behavior
Call me slow or dumb but does yaoi normalizes horrible semes since Asian countries treat their women like total shit and that is projected in most sex scenes? I feel like finding straight or Yuri romances without sa is easier than yaoi specially since sex scenes are such a big part of yaoi, these behaviors are much more present. It’s genuinely difficult finding any yaoi without dubious consent but it makes much more sense if the women writing thse BLs are basing it off their own or generally the woman experience of being with a man. It always seemed strange to me as a gay guy that these sex roles are so strictly implemented and decide which man has power over the other but it makes more sense seeing it from their perspective
Sometimes I think the authors are trolling their audience to see how awful of a human they can make the ML and ppl will still simp for them as long as their awfulness is outweighed by their looks reply
I think it definitely plays a role into the shitty Bl tops trend. I can enjoy a character being violent / shitty as part of his behaviour and UNUSUAL conditioning and/or something the plot is aimed to correct throughout the story, but when it's just a regular schmegular top who we know is going to end up with the MC and supposedly "charmed" him and...... reply

I can't really comprehend why SA is like necessary for the plot. But I do think Japan has a lot of influence in it and the fault of Lezhin and the influence of Killing Stalking. Idk. Maybe they have a rape fetish/kink, cnc, or they like the taboo or power dynamics. Could also be their way of coping with trauma?
