Characters no questions. One big example of this is are the slice of life anime(s) like asobi asobase. A plot can be filled with nothing but mundane shit but as long as the characters are interesting and entertaining af, it will roll. 1 reply
interesting characters make interesting stories: for example in Dungeon Meshi in the first few episodes the basic concept is eating and looking for food, but the characters are so unique that regardless it still makes the story enjoyable 1 reply
If characters are poorly written, a great plot can feel soooo hollow, but if the plot is bad, even amazing characters can't save the story so id rather pick well written characters even tho i do think they go hand in hand. reply
I think plot is better honestly, when most people watch things, they don't usually look at the characters first but instead read the description and become interested in it. Having well written characters are good but in the end, youre mostly watching/reading something for the plot reply
Well written characters cause if the plot's ass then I can just hop on to good ol AO3 and find some god tier fanfic that's probably better than the og about it 1 reply
Probably well written characters cuz I love saiki k.
Also I read a lot of stories with terrible or basic plots but it's always the change in characters that makes me stay. reply
well written character. people underestimate how a trashy unseasoned character can quite literally ruin even the best plots.
it is the characters who make the story, not the story that makes the character.
example: mushoku tensei. i heard the plot is nice but why would i even watch that show when i know the mc is trash? reply
