I don't know what I'm doing with my life
I guess I just need someone to tell me what I'm doing is perfectly normal and okay.
I'm a culinary major at my community college. I won't disclose my age, but I'm older than 18 and younger than 30. After recently seeing so many things happen politically in my country (the U.S.), I want to change my major to teacher education. It's corny, but I want to be the one to teach the future generation and byle a good role model for these upcoming children because, right now, you can see that there are not that many good role models in the U.S.
It's a bloodbath out here. I won't go too much into the politics, but Trump sucks and we're progessing backwards here. The education system is failing kids, the people are so divided here, and women get the very short end of the stick. People are losing rights in the lgbtq+ community, racism is at an all time high, and people are speaking up but not showing out.
I want to be a history teacher. I want to teach kids that there's a past to learn from, so we don't repeat the same mistakes over and over. I think I'd be a really good fit, although I do not anything to testify for it other than a small passion I have right now.
I don't know if this is some passion that will die out in the next few weeks, but I say this with certainty: I'm more passionate about this than I was in culinary. I feel more drawn to it, and am excited for the change. I already scheduled a meeting with my advisor to get more help and so they can answer my questions. So, hopefully, this is the right step.

even though i'm younger than you, i think that your aspirations are very inspirational. despite the whole fiasco with trump trying to dissolve the department of education, your resolve still shines through.

Hi, as someone who is also of that demographic (undergraduate) and been pursuing education. I've always had strong opinions of America's quality of education, though rather than history I'm interested in English as internet literacy and awareness of current news shouldn't be curated based on reinforced searches.
