I saw a debate on whether or not people should drop manga, specifically BL, after a certain age due to it being "childish" and "creepy". Alot said yes and that the limit should be between 40 to 60 years old.
Personally, I think age should only play a factor to determine whether or not you should still be reading BL in a high-school setting (especially if it's YAOI) but overall I think it's fine to read it at any old age as long as it isn't something illegal and it isn't hurting anyone.
I'd like to see your guys opinions on this though.
I see that sentiment from a lot of ppl on mgg. I think most of it is because of internalized shame and embarrassment about what they're reading. Personally, I'll be reading manga till the day I'm dead and buried. 1 reply

I've seen these similar discussions on twt. It's beyond delusional. Ah yes, it's creepy for 40+ year olds to read manga/BL, but Becky over here being 13 years old gets to enjoy all the smut she wants. I don't think so at all, it's not like there's a switch that turns off your interest in reading romance once you turn 40. This is a completely normal thing and it's kind of silly people actually think otherwise. I mean, most mangaka/authors are middle aged.

rather than there being an age limit to stop reading bl there should be an age limit to when people start reading yaoi.

That’s a stupid thought to have, in general. Like the idea that once you hit a certain age you should t eat/like certain foods snacks because they are catered to kids. Why tf kids get bubblegum flavored stuff am adults get stuck with mint and cherry?
