Things that shouldn't be normalized in any literature form?
Lately, I've been noticing a lot of controversial topics mentioned in media and literature forms. I do admit that it's a good way to raise awareness among these topics, but sometimes it just feels forced and is unfortunately utilized for readers.
For instance, I've been noticing BL's or MLM patronized by author's who showcase queer relationships the worst way possible. "Oh, it's for the character" Yeah, I ain't going to ignore that the ML committed domestic violence on the MC... then later on his behavior is excused because got some cliché 'traumatic background'. It's driving me crazy to the point I have been staying away from MLM literature for a while because of that.
Making a profit off of the horrors that women face. Famous example— adding rape for “realism”, and then having a male lead swoop in as a savior.
This is more of a fandom thing but cannibalism, specifically the bitches saying “cannibalism as an act of love ️”.

Child porn. Taboo shit. I get it if it's talking about the traumas of the character (implied/hint) , or when the story is a CRIME type aka the story talks about how ILLEGAL and BAD it is (not shown of the crime explicitly) . Not in some form of way of romance? Just cus "it's fiction" doesn't mean you're allowed to see children that way. 4 reply
not everything needs to be 'representation' most bl are just stories with queer men in it. you don't need to be into 'problematic' narratives, but to morally pathologize it is reactionary puritanism 5 reply
Anything you wouldn't support irl.
The romanticism is the problem here. Writing something about a guy being abused isn't wrong. Writing something about a guy being abused and then he gets with the abuser, the abuse is passed as minor, and the story is tone deaf in general? that's where the problem begins reply
Dark romance in general like why are we normalizing rape, abuse and a whole lot of stuff I refuse to say, like no love there is no romance just dark and the amount of stockholm syndrome is actually insane 2 reply
When they fall in love with their abuser. They’re not aware it’s always “he’s just misunderstood” “he has problems, I can fix him” No you can’t girl dude is just lusting over you. Also possessive dudes who gets jealous easily isn’t my thing, it usually feels too controlling. The amount of cold, asshole, rapey abusive MLs both in s...... reply
This manga shows that mangago users will rate works on here a 10 as long as they do not contain r@pe, which is weird because you don't like someone just because they understand what consent is. Can we all agree that a story with fluff and no s3xu@l @buse does not equal peak.
And when compared to other romantce manga, this pales in comparison.

the glorification of suicidal behavior or mental illnesses. or using it for shock value rather than actually caring about those problems. People see these oversimplified forms of mental illness and can very easily get carried away, like self diagnosing themselves or creating negative assumptions about it reply
