Feelin' w fine shyt, wbu?
I just realized children don't read classic books anymore. I read like, 20+ books in school growing up, including short stories, poems, and novels by very famous novelists.
Like legit, who remembers reading Of Mice and Men? The Little Prince? The Alchemist? The girl and her fucking matchsticks (spoilers, she died)? Ugly Duckling?
Dissecting and Interpreting Edgar Allan Poes depressing ahh poems to his wife. Reading Classics from whichever nationality you come from.
And i don't mean this rant (lowk the tone isnt even close to one) to be a whole 'back in my day' situation. Because in school those classics taught us how to interpret stories and meanings, gave us the capacity to critically think for ourselves. A lot of content on the internet, especially video and audio formats quite literally tell you how to think, and if lil' baby, undeveloped frontal lobes are accustomed to being fed information as it is, children will literally turn into walking advertisement zombies.
Also shortform video content isn't just frying children's brains, check on your unsupervised parents and elders too, they are also addicted.
Also also, emojis are destroying language eloquence, lil bros and gals can pinpoint a tiktokers foundation, but can't even spell the word foundation. No one speaks cursive anymore. Oh yeah, no one's learning to write cursive anymore as well.
Or maybe i just dont see the appeal of typing "L chat, sigma" and feeling aggrieved in my lonesome. Anyways thats all byeee~
Trigger warning for a "back in my day" rant.
Youre right and you should say it. I actually did a research paper on how social media is LITERALLY DESIGNED to be addictive (dont have the paper anymore but i remember the content bc it was so interesting to me). Everyone including adults are slaves to the algorithm now, and critical thinking has hit ...... 1 reply
Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. People get tired of long stories/ slow build-up and Conversations. They want quick solution and quick stories and just to get over with it. There was an interesting video I saw today how people have become used to echo chamber tactics and avoid taking a new and unique never before seen approach, they rather follow herd c...... 2 reply
