What's your opinion on filial piety
I'm aware it isn't called filial piety all over the world so let's put it this way and say what's your opinion on obligatory "respect and honour" to your parents? As someone who's parents constantly use that as an excuse for everything, even trying to force me into a career as a "gift" to them so they can gain respect , I despise it cause its so hard to refuse, if I do I get the disowned treatment , and I wonder what are other people's notions on it Ofcourse it isn't a necessarily bad thing in most cases but just didn't play out well in mine
They brought you into this messed up world without your consent, you owe them nothing...is what I truly feel but if we still hope for a somewhat decent relationship with them, you'd need to plead and plead, do other kind things for them and very slowly condition them to accept you choices. Worked for me once. 1 reply
