does a bad artstyle deter you?
I was reminiscing on old manhwas that I read, particularly early Wind breaker (the webtoon) and Lookism, too. I had an epiphany like "damn, I really did not have standards back then" tbf the plot drew me in and i was somehow able to overlook the...peculiar artstyles. but now its kind of hard for me to ignore art in favour of the plot. im probably missing out on some banger stories.

Yes. Bad art style throw me off. But like lookism, it first chapters were so bad and even after 3 reads I still find it ugly so I always jump into the chapter with a better artstyle. But there are like sweet home, were the drawing is bad yet it suits the story so I ignore the artstyle and just read. reply
I believe there are no bad artstyles, just acquired tastes. If a story is good enough, I can read it even if there are stick figures. From my pfp and name you can tell i LOVE JoJo's but I know a lot of people don't give it a chance because of it's artstyle. NO. Ugly art or unproportional body drawings etc. don't deter me at all. I read some doozies and eventually the characters actually grow on me :), even if at the end I think, damn!!...lol....but.....WHAT I WILL never read is the 'overly crowded, sfx every single tiny inch in the panel is used up, with art crammed in and dialogue bubbles squished ...... reply
The two you said look fine to me. I do think that a good artstyle could strentghen the enjoyment while reading, but it doesn't matter, if the plot is good why should I care. If I like it, the art is not gonna stop me reply
Dw I was able to read 400 chapters of "Ceo Above Me Below"(yes, I was a romance addict back. I've read almost all romance plot possible to humankind /j) but tbh the artstyle and story of WB and Lookism didn't really draw me in despite the hype but it was just a matter of preferences. I heard that the artstyle of those improve so it's probably worth...... 1 reply
Yes. But if the story is really good, I would try to persevere. On the contrary, if the storytelling is shit, it doesn't matter if leonardo fucking da vinci drew it, I will drop it hard. reply
It depends. I'm personally really open to what I read, whether the art is bad or not because whilst art does matter especially in this medium, I feel story shouldn't be overlooked. There have been a lot times where I've dropped a manhwa/ga because I thought the art was bad only for me to read it after a while and regret not reading it any sooner. L...... reply
Manhwas are a visual experience tbh, I think it's pretty hard to overlook bad or amateur art unless the plot, in cases such as lookism or windbreaker, is pretty damn good. reply
