Author's have lost the plot with Side Stories!
I've been noticing authors more and more misunderstanding or missing the point of side stories. Like the side story is NOT A CRUMB FEST for your story. Like please stop ending your story the moment our ML and MC get together. Like give us a season of domestic bullshit, instend of giving us crumbs in the sode story. Like the side story was supposed to be a lil treat now it feel like we're getting fed because they have to. Like STOP GIVING US SIDE STORY OMEGAVERSE WITH NO FUCKUNG BABY AND PREGNANCY CARE. Side stories used to help give us a new perspective on the characters if their circumstances was different. So show US HOW THEY'D BE DIFFERENT! I'm tried of authors using side stories for either: Side couple no one cares about ( not explored deep enough in such few chapters), crumbs of domestic life after they got togther, Omegaverse WITHOUT CHILDREN????, or A psudo- SEASON!!, or lastly CHARACTER ASSASSINATION ( LOOKING AT YOU STRANGER THAN FRIENDS)
LIKE COME ON GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANT INSTEND OF INDUSTRIAL SLOP FROM FLOPTROPICA
side stories were meant to be like the manhwa ver. of "epilogue" and "extra chapter" in books. (which the author posted afterwards on their website, or added it in the end, ie. epilogue) they were meant to be either discarded chapters from final draft, or something which author wanted to add but couldn't find the proper place to add.

Still pissed at the ending and epilogue for this. Literally the whole story was an 11/10 and the fuck ass ending dropped it to a 7/10 and then that fuck you of an epilogue? I feel like they threw ice cream on the sidewalk and pointed at it and said "Lick it up thirsty slut" Like why am I getting bullied by your plot??? the fuck? 3 reply
Hot take but if your side stories are more than 10-15, that's no longer a side story. That's just another season. Like these extras used to just showcase the babies growing up or few years later to their love life. reply
side/bonus/au stories i absolutely love is boss bitch baby, a room without window, a dog and a kind-hearted boiler, and sacred serpent's cuz imo it just makes sense. 2 reply
I told y'all don’t mess with “love shuttle” side stories can you elaborate on what you mean by “character assassination”, I don't mind if it includes spoilers for stranger than friends. Like did they actually kill a character off or they just changed a character so much that they mind as well have killed them off. reply
Shout-out to Shape of Sympathy, where the "side stories" can pretty much just be considered a whole other season. Like, you really can't not read the side stories, as they're just as crucial to the plot and characters' relationship as the main story itself. I don't mind it, just think it's kind of funny. reply
