I think you should be open about the reason they stripped you of the title, but bring it up as a funny "oh well, this will be a funny anecdote for a LinkedIn post". It's important that people do not realize how much this hurt you.You can even include it as a story in your personal essay, framing it as how you managed to overcome and motivate yours......   2 reply

Just be honest about this, it’s not your fault. If I were you, I would be getting my parents involved, and if that wouldn’t work, I would go higher. Even if the parent is from the board, they’re not above it and they can’t ignore a complaint. Valedictorian title is like a big one, I am one myself from Junior high and I understand how incredibly it is unfair to lose that title because of a sudden paper??
