Is marital rape criminalised in your country?
I Live in a Muslim majority country and they think a man has complete right to rape his wife once they're married and it shouldn't be considered rape even if it's forced. I feel disgusted and scared too. I wanna hear about what's it like for y'all,is marital criminalised in your country?
Fellow Muslim here, or more like ex-Muslim. I get what you’re saying. The situation was kind of the same where I lived. All the Islam dick riders in the comments seem to be living in delusion. I was literally told by my own family to marry my pedo grapist “for the family’s honour.” They said everything happens by Allah’s grace. This world...... 1 reply
It is criminalised where I live, but victims usually don't report it because they are groomed to believe by people in our fucked up society that "rape between spouses is not real," and most of the time those who do report it happening are pretty much ostracised by everyone, at least in rural communities where I grew up. It's disgusting, really. 1 reply
im indian. no it's not criminalised. there was a movie spreading awareness about marital rape, and men acted as if it was propaganda AGAINST men! their arguments were "so she slept with the ex but she refused to sleep with me and im wrong?" like yes man that's how consent works. also, "so if i cant have sex with her why would i marry her?" you tell...... 2 reply
No it's not, the worst is that when your husband pay the bride price, you are officially his property, you are "his". And in our society you can't refuse sex to your husband. If he raped you, it's normal , you are not supposed to refuse sex, he married you for that, he paid expensive money for you, if you run away some families will even chase you ...... reply
It's not.... It's not criminalised in my country too. It's like a woman ceases to be human the moment she says her vows. I get enraged everytime I think about it reply
I also live in a muslim majority country . But here it is a crime and a sin . In my country , muslim have religious class in the noon and non muslim who's interested to join the classes are allowed to but not forced . So even the non muslim knows that rape is a sin , no matter the status of the partners . Not to sound rude TwT .. but i think there'...... reply
By they, you mean that IS consensus of the majority of Muslims there and not just some lunatic bunch??? Bcs I also live in a Muslim majority country and that sort of sentiment wouldn't fly without some repercussions 1 reply
in the UK it is (although i'd like to argue that a lot of rape cases are dismissed unfortunately)
and in terms of Pakistan, rape is illegal with a law in 2015 also implementing a need for consent which could arguably cover marital rape
in terms of islamically however, marital rape is obviously a grave sin which deserves punishment. reply
I’m Indian, and no marital rape still isn’t criminalised here. A lot of older-gen women have probably experienced it without even recognising it as rape because they were raised with the mindset that a husband has a “right” to sex whenever he wants. That mentality has been normalised for generations here and its fucking horrifying. reply
