bcs it lets me enjoy romance without feeling like i’m being placed into the story or expected to self-insert which can happen in heterosexual romance due to heteronormative framing. it feels more like observing a relationship rather than being assigned a role in it.
i also find it less tied to traditional gender expectations about how men and wo...... reply
I like yaoi cuz men kissing. But fr though, I am a firm believer of the fact that men could absolutely never have as much love for a woman as they have for their friends. "Saturday's are for the boys" "Bros before hoes"- these are all cover up things for their internalized homosexuality. Further, they get offended if you even joke around about them...... reply
Men love men— they crave their validation, support, and affection more than they do of women, it’s a byproduct of patriarchy and their only obstacle is homophobia. I’m not homophobic and I like men (they’re hot) and I like two men getting sloppy on the toppy and being happy (extremely hot), doesn’t make me less of a woman. Just makes me a...... reply
Seeing all the discourse around "Song of the Wasteland" today I can confidently say ain't nobody reading yaoi of all things for the "plot" bubby, if they did then they'd see how absolute booty cheeks some of these slops are.

I don't even think of that part you mentioned: don't believe a man could ever truly love a woman the way men love each other in BL. -- I think men and women can love each fiercely so that part doesn't even factor into why I like BL. (Like a good plot for intrigue and guessing where the action may lead, or if no real plot I need a solid storyline ...... reply
I don't read much yoai actually but, I do read bl.
That being said, when you sift through all the trash and find one that really hits it's great.
I do read it for the plot.
Straight stories are also more common so there's more trash to sift through which I don't enjoy. reply
