Author Jaxx apologized for newest work and it's been cancelled, what do u think?
"To readers, I humbly accept the criticism that several scenes in Episode 1 contained disrespectful depictions of other cultures and people. Even if the direction and themes of the story differ from what you may be concerned about, I have decided not to launch the work, as the fundamental limitations of this project's premise are clear. I believe this situation has revealed my complacent attitude toward human rights sensitivity when handling a specific era and setting, and that my storytelling lacked sufficient care and nuance. I am deeply ashamed In my eagerness to focus on the characters, I failed to fully recognize that I was replicating problematic historical contexts and representational tropes found in past works. I also deeply resonate with the criticism that the characterization in question was not something to be treated lightly within a genre. What I had told myself was passion for the stories, I now recognize as arrogance. I was not as prepared or as careful as this story required me to be. I apologize for any displeasure caused to you, and I will carry this reflection with me as I continue. Sincerely, JAXX "
i think its one of the few online apologies that sounds sincere, acknowledges the mistake, and takes responsibility. Idk what kind of answer you were looking for but that's mine. reply
Makes mistake. Acknowledges mistake. Apologizes for mistake. I say that's better than doubling down and continuing to embarrass themselves with ignorance. Let us all hope for better and move on

I'm just surprised they shut it down so quickly. Most authors would've covered their ears and kept pumping out chapters, *cough* Get Schooled *cough*.
For me though, the most disappointing thing throughout this is seeing all the Asian ppl coming out in droves and showing their ignorance. Tossing out slurs, belittling other poc by telling them sla...... 2 reply
bestie I think u might've not checked the forums yesterday but this is the third post on this topic already, but to answer ur question yeah it's been a baffling ride, we already got slander for the defenders too.. I think we should just leave all the drama in the past now that the artist has apologized and the work has been discontinued.. ppl still...... 1 reply
Is it sincere? I’m not sure.
Am I moved by the apology? no.
Even with an apology it’s hard to re-establish lost trust because some people were hurt by the racism. It also reveals a lot about what the author truly thinks of the people depicted in their work. If some people are unable to move past this incident I think that’s reasonable.

I honestly thought that the quick and heartfelt apology was admirable. The author probably thought they could insert such a sensitive topic in a BL and give it justice (I'm guessing they meant to CRITICIZE slavery and the whole master-slave mentality in the story but it obviously didn't come across from the first chapter because of the dubious inte...... reply
I think its great that they apologized, that too sincerely instead of doubling down. They recognised their mistakes and apologized. I am relieved that they discontinued the story. reply
