It's the media I'm consuming not the author. But of course I will think about what the author did in the back of my mind. Well, it also depends on what toxic thing the author did? If it's cheating, sa and pdf, then no, I won't read their work. But if it's tax evasion, I'll still read it. As long as they don't cross my moral compass.
