Do you guys THINK about what you read?
I'm genuinely concerned some people don't even question why they read this or that or how consuming that type of media makes them feel. Like, do you guys reflect on what you feed your brain? I've read people say they don't understand why they like reading BL or just any genre in general, have you thought on maybe stop for a sec and ask yourself hmmm i wonder why i like reading this genre sm mmmm maybe bc i enjoy x or y and the way i relate to z.
LIKE?! am i crazy?? Is reading comprehension out of the question if not applied for school textbooks?? Whats the point of learning critical thinking in school when you can't even apply it outside with the stuff you consume daily like pls let's start question why we do the stuff we do and maybe you'll learn more about yourself than you think and idk probably heal something in your core you didnt even realize needed to be healed, like come on guys. And don't come at me saying mimimimi it's not that deep mimimi bc IT is that deep trust me, lets all regain our consciousness, did doomscrolling really fried your brains? PLEASE SAY NO ☹
introspection, reflection, and making connections between things aren't skills that come easily for everyone, or that people try to develop. reading comprehension and critical thinking are skills that not everyone hones, or think they have a use for outside of academic tasks. and not everybody is curious about stuff in the same way?

It depends on the story no? Sometimes I read slop as long as I find it entertaining, I just turn off my brain, lmao most of the time I dropped stories if it doesn't interest me enough to keep going after 15-20 chapters reply
i mean, would you stare at a blank wall for 2 hours or would you stare at a painting for 2 hours? Some reads are so good you think about them, analyze every detail and ask for blessing for the author, while some reads are just so boring you say 'Meh, whatever.' and move on, or if it's too bad you say 'wtf is even is this shit', critique it, or mayb...... reply
I totally get it. Literacy is dying in real time. The number of comments I see totally not understanding what characters are thinking when you just have to think a tiny bit to get it is absurd. Reading comprehension is dead. 1 reply
Unfortunately yes and it sucks the fun out. I also think about why I don’t like certain media. I had discovered some underlying misogynistic views one time. I realized I disliked female characters that were codependent and loyal to an unreciprocated love interest, but did not feel the same towards male characters that do the same.

some people just want to turn their brain off sometimes. rl sucks so they be reading pure for entertainment purpose and then forget and sleep it away. reply
Well... Reading comprehension and critical thinking skills are in a crisis worldwide according to UNESCO, Out World in Data, OECD, and Unicef. Coupled with disinformation, budget cuts and worldwide propaganda war and supremacism it doesn't come as a surprise to me if a lot of people answer "it's not that deep" or anything like that...

Yes, but id say no atm cus all the new works have the same pattern, nothing much really to think about, but if we are talking about the works with peak writings or even a little of depth in the storyline, id say rather than if u think while reading or not usually, it just makes u think about it and makes u imagine yourself in that situation or how ...... reply
Lowkey, I think my brain was turned off until I read one of those absolutely amazing analyses, specifically for PASSION, I just had this strong feeling that 'ain't no way this ain't the author', like I don't remember the name, but it in bato and the way they read those microexpressions and situation and literally everything regarding that chapter a...... reply
