I need writing tips asap
I stopped reading actual books in so long that I think I lost all my writing skills and my pride won't allow that.
I have a chance of being invited to a writing group for horror romance (underrated combo) and I can not mess this up.
I need anything, how to expand sentences, how to describe the 5 senses, characterization, YouTube tutorials, anything.
Please help this non novel and book reading user it is not my fault that one day I decided I'd just read manga/whas/huas for the past years, and never tried writing after that.
bad news: the best way to improve your writing is by reading, not just writing by itself. you sound like you're going into this group trying to prove to yourself and others that you haven't lost your writing abilities instead of seeing this opportunity as something to learn from. read. read, read, read. go into books as a writer, not a reader. if y...... 1 reply
Thinking about it the best thing for me is practice and research, I don't want to do allat (as accounting and computer sci already forces me to do) but yeh it makes sense

Open up a horror story and write down all the writing conventions you see. If you don't wanna read, listen to an audiobook. For example when I was trying to write a confinement story and had no ideas how to improve, I started reading/listening to Stephen King's 'Misery' but specifically focused on how the story was written when there wasn't any plo...... reply
