I would recommend Ghost in the Shell, Memories or anything by Satoshi Kon, about half of Miyazaki's oeuvre, and perhaps the first run of Hellsing, but seeing as you did not enjoy Cowboy Bebop or Berserk (assuming first run, not remake), then perhaps anything on Netflix.
