I would recommend Ghost in the Shell, Memories or anything by Satoshi Kon, about half of Miyazaki's oeuvre, and perhaps the first run of Hellsing, but seeing as you did not enjoy Cowboy Bebop or Berserk (assuming first run, not remake), then perhaps anything on Netflix. Japanese by far, though by no means is it all or even mostly good. Korean BL is very formulaic and clichéd, soap opera, either sugar fluff or edgy, rapey stuff. And that "always fighting" mindset, living on credit, wearing brands, vying for position, and measuring everything with money and titles. Dumb, ignorant, scheming, paranoid, bipolar, alcoholic, wreck of a human being. Could be fun at times, but came with a huge bill, every time. Not a friendship I had chosen, but one of those group deals. Ended up causing a lot of damage to the group as well. Easy to drop.

He was not abusive or anything, just distant, and by that I mean practically not there. No interest, other than taking report cards and gloating to friends, as if he had anything to do with it. Not doing any housework, or even fixing stuff that was broken. In the end, not even providing the minimum standard and letting the family slip into poverty ...... reply
