I’m a mess

Hello. How do someone get rid of anger? I feel like rage inside me all the time and for whenever reason. I have mental illness (actually diagnosed) so that might be the reason too.. but i don’t want to use it as an excuse and I want to actually get rid of it but i don’t know how. I have been like this since childhood basically. I tried therapy and it didn’t help, meds didn’t help either, nor going to gym for exercise. i have no friends and my family is..well not that understanding. They are the typical “nothing wrong with you grow up” parents.

if you get angry at people and lash out a temporary solution could be to distance yourself in the moment
for me the anger is the worst in the moment when something happens so i just walk away bc i know i'm gonna say something.
like close the door in their face and go to another room, go take a walk, just get away from whatever's making you angry if you can. i find that after a while i cool down a bit and can think about things more rationally, and it also gives me time to formulate my thoughts.
i'd also suggest finding an outlet like drawing, writing, etc. no need to show anyone, there's that thing where you draw a bunch of random lines and connect the intersections to make them to look like sharp points/stars (like cybersigilism) and not much experience is needed
apparently meditation helps, but i've never tried it
just try a bunch of hobbies and see what sticks? like try anything, origami, felting, knitting, crocheting, book binding, or whatever
also depends on how old you are you can always try going to a rage room and see if that helps, but i wouldn't recommend becoming reliant on that kinda stuff

i think it also depends on what kind of anger or feeling you have like i.e.d. or something more constant

Anger is a secondary emotion so you likely have something else underlying that anger that you need to work through to help you process all of your emotions and move on. I know you said you tried therapy, but which kind? I recommend cognitive behavioral therapy and a therapist that is specifically trained in anger management and trauma. Sometimes you have to try a few different therapists and kinds of therapy before finding the one that fits you best. Ideally you want someone who will help you develop skills to process your anger and any underlying emotions and work through it. Don't give up i hope something you find helps you work through it so you dont have to live with it all the time.

Hi. If you struggle with anger and feel like there are times when you just want to scream it all out, there’s one thing you should know first. The emotions that most people consider negative aren’t actually negative.
Imagine if fear or anger didn’t exist. Faced with imminent danger, if we didn’t feel fear, we wouldn’t know how to run away from it. It’s also true that feeling emotions too intensely doesn’t help. You say you want to get rid of that emotion, right?
I guess what you really want is to get rid of whatever is causing you to feel that emotion. And that’s perfectly fine!
My advice to you is to give yourself time. I know it’s extremely difficult to be in that situation and to suddenly stop yourself right then and there.
When I have anxiety attacks, the phrase I repeat in my head is: “Anxiety peaks and then subsides—it doesn’t last forever.” And when I feel a little calmer, I analyze the reason why that moment of anxiety began.
This is what works for me. I don’t know if it’ll work for you, but I just want you to know that the first step toward change—asking for advice and help—is the hardest one. Give yourself credit for having already taken that step. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
