i had a different experience, so i’m sorry if i might be hella unhelpful… but i wanted to answer anyway. imo there isn’t any other way but to go to your physician and tell them directly that you would like to visit a psychiatrist. they’d probably ask some questions as to why if you don’t know what to start with, so just say you might susp...... reply
Just tell them you want a referral for [some specific condition]. With some conditions like ADHD or anxiety, the doctor may give you an assessment questionnaire to fill out first. 1 reply
i can only answer about what it's like in the USA, but you should be able to search for psychiatrists on your health insurance's website (they usually have a finder for in-network doctors of all specialties), then just start calling places to make an appointment. referrals aren't generally necessary if they are accepting new patients.
