Is confidence the same as rudeness ?
Rant-ish question: This is something I think about often for some reason, I try to avoid judging or being bothered by tones and certain ways of speech, but it eventually gets to you and makes you wonder
I really don't understand people who are rude for no reason, if we're discussing something, I like to keep things respectful between us even if we have different views, that is unless you're saying something completely nonsensical of course. I just get confused, if you have that much time to spend cursing somebody I'd personally just prefer to spend said time enjoying myself instead
I see this alot on this website too, people get so defensive and rude the moment you try to have a fraction of difference in opinions, do these people think they're superior and more intelligent being harsh? What is the correlation here, you can be factual and right without needing to pop a vein calling somebody an idiot or a dumbass or whatever.
I realize that environments play a role in how you act and speak, same for what you consume from literature and media, but I still think it's no excuse to be rude, I mean, every case is different and it's understandable sometimes, but mental challenges and disorders aren't an excuse for someone to go off on somebody, this is not to compare situations but I grew up in a very abusive and toxic household and I used to consume a lot of things I shouldn't have consumed, but I still grew up knowing that being kind is the least you can do to a stranger, in fact, because I grew up in this environment, I realize how much respect and decency affects the mood of people around you.
many people need to work on their reading, writing, and emotional regulation skills.
many people have grown up in or grown used to a social media environment that favors quick responses and a "hit first and hard" mentality. in comparison, it takes much more effort to think through a position or argument and then present it intelligibly to another ...... reply
definitely not. i actually think people who are rude during discussion are the biggest cry babies (no matter what the context or upbringing you have). you can make your point without bursting out a vein and calling others names. it won't make your point any less strong and firm. confidence is having others hear your thoughts without having an attit...... reply
I appreciate the people on this site who remain eloquent even in an argument, I dont have the patience for that anymore so I just ignore it if people are rude lol reply
Hell no, confident people should lift you up not bring you down. Period.
Everyone should talk respectfully it doesn’t matter what site we are using. I once talked with someone with a bad attitude and i mentioned that they should talk more respectfully and they answered with “this is an illegal site, why do i have to be respectful?” Girl.. t...... reply
I think u r absolutely right. I also come from a physically and emotionally abusive household and I now think that helped me shape my personality.
Many ppl think they r being straightforward, honest and doesn’t beat around the bush typa person, in fact they r just rude . Being kind to a stranger or to somebody who isn’t kind to u ,isn’t the ...... reply
Well, totally agreed with you and I understand where you are coming from. There are def types of people who think they are superior and would do anything to make themselves seem "the correct one" . However if we're talking in general , with just confidence and rudeness. Well imo they are not the same. Over confidence can def come hand in hand with ...... reply
