Since we're all low-key becoming media illiterate what do you think helps you analyze and understand a story better. Is having to read books, theses and essays the only way?
The first step would be people learning to stay quiet and recognized the limits of their knowledge. Learn to shut up! The internet has become an endless echo chamber of parrots repeating things they barely understand.

I think reading books and essays is inevitable if you wish to comprehend media on a deeper level, the more knowledge and experience you see unfold through intricate writing and usage of vocabulary, the more your understanding, and emotional intelligence grows, so does your ability to observe and process the information presented in front of you.
