“Peak” manhwa
I used to call every mid to mid trash BL “revolutionary” and slap a 5/5 on it. Looking back now? Solid 2s, most of them. That’s exactly why I don’t trust anyone who calls a yaoi “peak”, half these people will call anything peak.
Sad ending ≠ peak. Angst ≠ amazing writing. And “psychological” doesn’t mean peak either, half the time it just means there’s a bunch of rape in it and people mistake trauma dumping for depth.
So, genuine question: what’s a BL you rated 5 stars back in the day that you’d rate way lower now? And what actually changed, the story, or just you? (It doesn’t necessarily have to be a BL I just used it as an example.)
If I am to re-read the old comics that I rated 5/5 back in 2021 , I would probably give 3/5 or 2/5 at most . But that's precisely because , I have grown alot and my standards for stories are too high in 2026 . For me, my definition of peak is when something is so good it makes me uncomfortable (like GOOSEBUMPS). I would say back then, I easily give something 5 stars because I'm so easily amazed by things, but shit gets repetitive and boring. I'm unfortunately REALLY picky, and I dropped a lot of manwhas because of it. Manwhas currently are just... meh.. ...... reply
It's a manga, not a manhwa, but "Whispering You a Love Song" was one of the biggest GLs disappointments in my fucking life oh my lord.

It was one of the first mangas I’ve seen since I got back into bl, and it was really interesting for me to see a strong uke/yandere uke (i was really new so i had only seen popular stuff like given and stm) but now that I read it the plot is honestly kinda trash and the characters are repetitive, they bar...... reply
nothing tbf. when i like something, i will stick with it despite all the opinion of other people. what happened was the opposite, there was a manga/hwa/hua that i rated 3-1 stars but i tried to reread it again and changed my perspective to rated it 4-5. reply
Anyway chat read (almost) anything by Nianzhong, it's peak asf, life changing, put me in a reading block by being so auraful. I even cried a little. All the mangas I read except some. Cuz like lwk I read them right before exam or during the month of my exams and everything is so addicting and perfect. Like "Again" was ok but ask that version me, she would have glazed it.
