I have one friend who usually just watches bls, and reads sometimes. He mostly just likes shounen ai, but he's SLOW. Fpr instance, he literally now watched cherry magic in 2026, I read it I 2024, we're so out the loop that ig we don't really talk about it. Yeah i do, and i personally think they're more into BL lmao. One of them even reads hardcore kink/fetish BL (would probably get flamed in this forum for it). Like yeah I've read a lot of BL but i don't really have a fujoshi or BL fan mindset. 2 of my friends read bl and both of them are equally insufferable. One is just straight up homophobic and reads bl cause "i am not homophobic if l like Bl" mindset and other just read it because of the smut.

most of my friends are queer and love reading queer stories including bl but are not limited to mangas/manhwas/manhuas.
my older queer friends introduced me to ao3 fanfics. they got into it bc media back then didnt have many queer reps so ppl had to make their own w their favourite characters.
