This has been on my mind for a while
Would you still like something if it has problematic themes just for the sake of historical accuracy? Like minor x adult and stuff like that? I do believe accuracy is necessary but I got really pissed when I was talking about this to a friend and he mentioned literary works shouldn't be confined to modern standards, but it seems like an excuse for some authors to be creepy, no? We were talking about violet evergarden and the whole teenager x a guy in his twenties is really weird but he said that it's historically accurate but I argued that it still isn't romantic when a teenager WILL get trauma from it but he just said it was normal back then..... What are your thoughts on this?
I read the begining of your question and thought you meant like the brothers Karamazov or something lmaooo
I'll answer first for something ACTUALLY historically accurate:
-you can still like a book if it has problematic themes because you as a reader can be critical of said themes, in some cases like the book "Lolita" you are even MEANT to disagree...... reply
