As someone who started reading BL at a very young age, it really depends on the person and what kind of content you're consuming. Shounen Ai helped me explore my identity and sexuality at a time where I really seemed to be questioning what I was and who I liked. It kinda depends. When you’re 14, your mind is still developing and some of the things in BLs (like sexual assault, fetish content, very dark themes, and more) can sometimes influence you. When reading things like yaoi, which is usually explicit, it can sometimes turn into an addiction affecting your life on a daily basis. And mainly in the BL co...... reply
The more yall grow the more you will realize than reading most of these stories truly isn't ok to be read at such a young age. Is it the worst thing a child can do? No. Will kids be stopped or should they be banned to read yaoi ? No. reply
I think what many people miss is the fact that they haven't grown up enough to see the damage porn does to someone's psyche. This is not to bash anyone or to say something are better than the other, I'm still pretty young too and I've made so many mistakes just because I was confident that "I'm different".
