Is it just me or do you guys think too that there's lack of creative storytelling in yaoi nowadays.
It might also be just me because I've been reading since 2018, so I can no longer find anything new, everything is predictable and a copy paste of the most popular slop.
So tell me what do you guys think. Leave recommendations too if there are unique yaois you know of.

the market is super oversaturated with specific tropes, even ones who started to appear more recently became boring now, not to mention how often the storytelling is super shallow with morally grey characters who are super pretentious and edgy, if they happen to have an "redemption arc" its always shit from a butt, and I wont even share my opinio...... 1 reply

You’re right. Lately it feels like BL is nothing but rape, imprisonment, incest, and omegaverse. Where's the creativity? I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum, but it's so repetitive. As someone who has written over one hundred oneshots so far, I am going to sadly hold everyone's hand here and say you guys don't actually want creativity. You guys want predictability with just enough variation that it “feels” creative. that's why I switched over the fanfics rn... people are a lot more creative w fanfics (even original works on ao3) while yaoi authors these days r just in it for the cash (hence all the copy and pastes) 1 reply

This is why I prefer Shounen Ai or bl they don’t center sex too much because a lot of yaoi is all the same dynamics, storylines and they always give dark romance wattpad vibes like the dialogue sometimes is so terrible it feels like a 16-year-old wrote it. somewhat but also likely your own tastes could've changed or become more defined. I definitely have noticed I now shift towards stories I wouldn't have given a second glance 2 years ago, and well 10 years ago or so there were different issues with the stories let's be fair.
