But for me having notifications daily would make me so desperate to read everything.

At first it's just best to minimize your time rather than uninstalling it right away.
If you play for 4 hours, try playing for 3h and a half for a week, and use those 30 minutes left to so other things you enjoy or find more productive, them you expend less and less time slowly.

I make myself lose the game all the time.
It's so often i use it as a reminder, everytime I lose, I just watch a Smosh dread episode, srs at the 10 minutes mark I already forget what I was watching and I'm right back in The game.

I change my methods every year, what has truly stuck is cutting EVERYTHING into small pieces.
It's more of a general method to stay motivated that anything else, when I feel like doing nothing i think , "I just have to do this ONE thing" and when I finish I always get energy to do more.
And Pomodoro is great to!
