I think I was 12 when I read the first one by influence of a friend of mine ... But I knew it before and I was all ''Eugh, how people can like it?'', but it was more because I saw it first with creepypasta characters. Now I need yaoi/yuri to live~~ reply
I didn't have such a crazy or shocking experience, I normally don't react so much to anything.... The only thing that came to my mind was ''He does moan a lot, holly shit.... I liked (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜", while looking to it with a expressionless face. reply
I just stared at the screen like...Holy shit that is sexy af (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
But what if my mum saw me reading this (⊙…⊙ )

Imma read all the yaoi in the world ლ(´ڡ`ლ) reply
I was twelve when i discovered yaoi. I had just been introduced to anime and Manga and would binge watch/read everything. At the time I had no idea WTF Yaoi was so me, being clueless, decided to "explore"ლ(´ڡ`ლ) and after that night my life was never the same. I'm fifteen and is still binge read yaoi in the middle of the night and I regret no...... 1 reply
I was appalled. My first action was to shut down the screen and look around to see if anyone saw it. Then I thought about and I couldn't help but to look again. In that moment I knew it was too late. It has already been 7 years and I'm still addicted to it. 1 reply
Well, I started reading at like 13, so I would be a hypocrite to say not to. To be fair, with the internet bringing anything you want to see with a click/tap, it's hard to tell anyone not to see/do ANYTHING. Most kids kinda know sex stuff nowadays. It really can't be avoided in the grand scheme of things. Now with that being said, myself and numero...... reply

I think it matters more on education than age.
I don't know about the other countries here, but in mine you learn about sex education at grade 7 (age 12) but recently some schools, are now starting to teach it at grade 1...
In this education system, it really starts at grade 5/6 but the information is really minimal.
From grade 8 it's "condoms, ...... reply
I don't think age restrictions are particularly useful, but they are there for a reason. When talking about mature topics, it is important to take into account the maturity of the individual, which is hard to assess. Children may also hear things from their classmates if not from their parents, older siblings, etc.
However...

I really think that this varies from person to person. I remember reading my first explicit manga at around age 9 or 10. It was more of a shoujo than a hentai but there was still some pretty steamy stuff. By that age, I already had a general idea of what sex was because I found my older cousin's stash of porn (but that's a totally different story h...... reply
90% of the yaoi mangas depict unhealthy relationships and wrong practices. also its so wrong for someone to learn about lgbt+ people from these mangas because 99% of the time theyre extremely transphobic, biphobic and believe it or not homophobic. it makes people fetishize and objectify gay people soo much. i know it because 3 of my close friends do...... 3 reply
I am a mother to 3 (ages 6,8,11). I am obsessed with yaoi and my kids know i enjoy reading manga where boys kiss boys. But as a mother, i don't think i would allow my oldest to view such material. Although i don't think i will hold him off on these until 18, but 11 is too young. I don't understand kids now who are like 12 watching hentai, yaoi and ...... 2 reply
Well, there are surprisingly a lot of people that started reading yaoi and other adult stuff when they were around 12 years old. So I think it's fine for those under 18 to read sexuall materials. As long as you know right from wrong and real from unreal, and keep it separate from your real life. 2 reply
Thanks for all the responses! I have read through and here are my general replies to some of the main counterpoints i heard (in case you want to hear them):
- if you think that some kids can't handle something at a young age, or that when you're below 18 you should keep you're innocence or 'only learn the right things' then i would object. people e...... 2 reply
'Things' are your daily life experiences by which you get to know the world around you. Tell others about the things you did, may it be cool, sad, crazy or funny. You can also find things that you might want to do and a friend to do it with!
