It takes a certain level of courage to do all that you are asking in the post, it takes a certain level of self awareness and understanding of the world in relation to yourself. The urge to even have curiosity takes courage and this courage comes out of a legible understanding of oneself, but most users on here avoid it actively because of their ne...... reply
It depends on the story no? Sometimes I read slop as long as I find it entertaining, I just turn off my brain, lmao most of the time I dropped stories if it doesn't interest me enough to keep going after 15-20 chapters reply
Even though I do agree with you, i fear I may be this person but only because I've got really bad face blindness like i cannot follow who the characters are in a drama, I can barely remember someone's face in a movie! So the entire time I'll just be like "who was this?" And I don't particularly like how they are directed most of the time in kdrama...... 1 reply
Some of you guys are really condescending... (ᗜ ˰ ᗜ)
Maybe we have jobs and are tired and just want to relax so we default to what we like.
Also, wouldn't it be a better use of your time to critically think about more productive things than how someone else is living their own life? 1 reply
ure valid but if we are honest, a lot of the works here, especially the newest, most popular, really don't have a lot to analyze and "apply critical thinking" to when they really are just "same 10 cliche plots with smut and smut and dumb characters and ooo hot dih and boob". I'm overgeneralizing and ofc there ARE REALLY good works with deep message...... 1 reply
I really only think and question myself when I’m reading something that has a darker and heavier tone. Doing that for psychological stories and whatnot really improves my immersion icl. It just depends on genre imo, cs when I’m reading a slop action manhwa or a slice of life, I don’t feel like I need to reflect I’m js trying to get my dopa...... reply
i think yaoi is not really the best place to find your sense of self lol. is analysing "why i like squirting kink" important to my life? maybe, maybe not. i get where you're coming from but people can and should be able to enjoy fictions mindlessly. if you have to question every little thing in your life, that means you don't have yet a secure sens...... 3 reply
Dark/psychological genres NEED reading comprehension honestly. But most readers just screams rape here, rape that. But most didnt even try to think about the nuance WHY it happened.
I love trying to disect a character's mindset. From the mc to the ml, and the circumstances that brought that event. There's a lot of food for thought on how their min...... 2 reply
Well… sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
There are list of manhwas and novels that fried my brain cause I think of them a lot (mostly horror, psychological, murder mystery etc.). And yeah I like symbolism cause people tend to perceive them differently and it's fun to read them.
There are also list of manhwas and novels where I throw my brain ou...... 1 reply
As someone who prefers 2D BL, I find this pretty offensive bc you're generalizing an entire group of ppl- what??
First off, I'm only speaking for myself here: I'm NOT homophobic. I iust simply prefer 2D media as my form of entertainment, that's it. and that preference isn't exclusive to bl at all, I don't really enjoy watching live action in gene...... 1 reply
I read a lot of psychological and the amount of ppl in comments not understanding symbolism or theme is so alarming... or just being like "ml is so hot" like guys lets think.
Sometimes I do stop and think about how a scene makes me feel, or what a characters action means for their development, etc, etc. Idk just mindlessly consuming content makes ...... 2 reply
I read BL, because it's comfortable (a safe space), idk, and... I've been eating trash so long... I'm at peace... I do read Acton and other stuff on the side, but BL is the mothership...

Honestly, I don't really analyze why I like every genre I read. If something interests me, I read it. If it starts getting boring, I drop it. If it has questionable writing or themes, I'll critique it. Other than that, I'm usually just reading because I enjoy it, not because I'm trying to learn something about myself every time.
I think it's fine...... 1 reply
I agree. That said, u didn't need to mention you're a man, Kivomo. Anyone born bfr the pandemic could tell by some of your very unemployed comments 1 reply
I also had a problem with my posture and had back & neck problems, I found ballet to be super helpful. Even if you aren’t able to do ballet or uninterested I recommend looking up ballet stretches/warm ups on YouTube. (Pilates is also helpful…) when we balance or stand at bar in ballet we basically tuck our butt/glutes in, engage our core, squee...... reply
Sorry it's maybe me, I don't live action bl cause the acting is soo bad. Also they love to censor the gay couple in it by creating a bromance, I even see a adaptation where the STRAIGHT SIDE COUPLE had more screen time than the gay one, it's just soo frustrating... 1 reply
well, me personally, I only read 2d most of the time as I'm not used to live actions where they do the deed. I've watched some before where they don't do it n I gen enjoy them! I'm fine w them doing it in 2d, but the thought of real sex irks me. I feel like that to all kinds btw, het, bl, gl, it just irks me which is why I stick to 2d when it comes...... reply
LOL im actually one of those who ppl who mostly like to read 2d bl. i dont get why i like bl, i for some reason just like it and i dont even like reading yuri. Im not gonna lie tho , i dont really care about gay ppl in real life(like i mean i dont dislike them or like them)
Same for lesbians, im just neutral about them
Im def not homophobic tho. ...... 1 reply
I agree tbh i dont trust them either, 2020 was a huge awakening for me bc i met so many online fujoshis that were just, uh, exactly what you described. Also Bc i was just so young when i started reading BL I thought maybe i was one of them but honestly as i got deep into queer media i watched movies (my favorite: your name engraved herein) and real...... reply
