Lei (Top) is an entity that has long existed before the academy was built.
He met Jade (Bottom) during the enrollment of kids and saw how he was ostracized by everyone—saying he was the "monster" of that house. Of course, seeing that, lei felt a sudden kinship—how they were the "same".

Fast forward, might skip a few coz it's 11:52 pm and I'm sleepy.
There were times when jade felt like he was gonna be devoured by lei and not in a good way, he was freaked out and left and feeling hurt, jade turned back time—he didn't want jade to hate him, and said he'd do better next time. This went on and on, an endless cycle of repeating time to mend and mend a relationship.
That's why jade always felt a sense of de ja vu and kept dreaming of things that hasn't happened (in his current time).
As a result of repeating time, a creature began to exist. Due to Lei's killing of the same person over and over again to infiltrate the academy and become one of the students—that same body stacked over time giving strength, causing a human appreance to form.
With this newly found appearance, he, and lei, fought with lei, of course, ending as the winner with the help of Jade and their love for each other lol.
After graduating, Jade cut ties with his family and took his mother's maiden name, Lovell. In which, he shares with Lei as they began their life of living together—forever loving each other.
Though I'm not sure but I do believe that their lives are connected now too.
"Promise me you won't live like some Apex predator, just be my lei."
