This is a love story which takes place in a high school setting. A rather odd boy who keeps a pet(?) rooster and a smart not well off girl again. This sort of trope appears rather often during this day and age but I enjoyed it a lot since the characters develop and mature as well.
A very cute "Coffee Prince" (korean drama) sort of feel. Released in 2005, this manga is about a girl wants to work at a shop where the owner is a bit gruff, and the attractive male employee falls asleep the moment he runs out of sugar. A comedic love story that is easy to read.
A fantastic shounen series to read. This particular storyline focuses on a war occurring between the "Naturals" (natural humans without any modifications) and "Coordinators" (genetically modified/enhanced humans). Scifi with mechas. LOOOOTS of drama and psychological elements so it is a heavy read. It's realistic in terms of the psychological aspect ... human nature related story. Lots of bloodshed, tears, wanting revenge... it really shows how wars can destroy you menta
Another one of my favourites. Otherwise known as "UFO Baby"- a girl moves into the house of a friend of her family- and meets a boy her age. And then all of a sudden, a baby in a UFO appears out of nowhere?! A very cute story- if you watch the anime, you can see the ML is more expressive in the anime compared to the manga.
Generally, the author Watase Yuu kills me because a lot of their mangas involve tragedy one way or another. To the very least, this one has the LEAST amount of death I've seen. But be ready for a rollercoaster of emotions from happiness to suffocating heartache and tears. Author Yuu is a genius when it comes to their stories, and this is one of their many masterpieces.
A classic well known by fans in the 90s and early 2000s. It's very similar to Boys Over Flowers. Except that it takes place in a Boys-only private school where she gets involved with the most famous club in the school- the Host Club. Cute, comedic, funny. What's not to like?
A story of a prince looking for a princess.. but from fairytales and with a speck of horror involved. This was one of my first introduction into the subtle horror genre. It's not scary to the point of wanting to scream but it's def a thrill. I recommend it to first time horror readers.
Another one for the horror genre. This one is stronger in terms of horror, and I'd also say theres elements of psychological as well. An entertaining, thrilling read about Dokuhime, which translates to "Poison Princess".
This one is a long one. It does still get updates. If you want to read a fluffy, comedic story about a human boy that enters a school for monsters/demons, I strongly recommend this one!
An old classic. Not sure if people remember this one. this one was an early horror manga of a vampire girl. This series used to be in graphic novels and consisted of smaller, short stories when it first started. The "New" series, does continue the story but loses the one shot element. A very traditional style, if you want to try it out.

Gegege no kitarou?
Added to the list! Gonna read to remember what this manga was about soon.
Apologies to anyone who sees changes in this time and time again. I am very slowly adding in updates and adding in more stories in here for anyone who might be interested in reading more nostalgic, older series of manga. Please let me know if there's any mangas I forgot to add in, and please enjoy!
