bwat has a long history appropriating arab and south asian cultures with no regard for the cultural context for clothing ,religion, accessories etc coupled with racial stereotypes(taming the tiger) that i already mentioned above so i will touch upon their current work which is quite literally orientalism 101. they made their brown lead character by giving him blonde hair and blue eyes which is often done to distance the character from being brown for aesthetic appeal with a disappointing representation for a group of people they're not even part of and attributing european characteristics to him as if to adjust him to what will 'appeal more' THEY DIDN’T CARE ABOUT THE IDENTITY!!you see arabs and south asians have different cultures ,clothing etc they mashes it together because these cultures are typically being brown which is textbook racism that's why his attire is a bit of this mixed with a bit of that to make it visually beautiful nothing more or less.bwat also depicted 'harem' in it's orientalist root as something sexual but actual harem is residence housing not only for concubines who are expected to bear child but servants,wives,children and don't get me started on how they appropriated belly dancer clothing for harem. the depiction of the main goddess and religion is very similar to south asian religions like hinduism and other regional religions where goddess 'kali' has multiple hands and can be manifested as destructor but they reframed her simply as an exotic, bloodthirsty monster and mindless violence.besides that they also traced a real mosque for the palace .numerous other instances exist where authentic cultural representation is reduced to a fetishized and racist caricature. so pocs mainly from those cultures and regions have every right to upset with orientalism and exoticism being depicted in media cause it has been used as colonial tool to expand western imperialism in those regions.

honestly i thought their current work's weird ever since the whole child marriage thing like they always find a way to incorporate these weird problematic segments into their story but as yk their braindead fans will gobble up anything brainlessly while parroting 'it's fiction'. now coming to the glaring racial stereotypes of hyper-masculinisation of brown women where they are depicted overly muscular and aggressive by stripping them off conventional femininity as a justification of exploitation and hard labour, even if the creator manages to depict brown women as dainty or hyper feminine ,her daintiness is never viewed as innocent like the victorian white ideal instead, it is framed as exotic.so this isn't just about this one bl manhwa but media in general ,orientalism literally kills people.

yes and we as in all pocs including myself who is brown i'm calling on all the pocs out there to call out such orientalist artwork instead of letting it be ignored, to prevent harmful stereotypes of south asian and arab cultures be rooted into audience's mind .all they need to do is apologise followed by a proper research the next time they're drawing brown characters.
