since you're reposting my words, I hope that means you won't continue to try to argue or agitate people by trying to play the "which is worse" game. it's a stupid game started by silly people and you'll only win stupid prizes like antagonizing people who might otherwise ally with you.
racism (by which I mean the whole system of racial hierarchy, not "just" insults and attitudes) and rape are both expressions of domination and exploitation, just on different scales. both need to be challenged.
don't fall for divide-and-conquer derailing strategies.
Girl i'm not the one who came into comment sections calling people hypocrites because they don't bash mangas with rape as much as this as if it's not a completely a separate issue. I don't mind arguing with these people because they are wrong for trying to compare these two in the first all I did was share my perspective If they're mad then good it's working.
I'm also arguing against the hypocrisy allegations, so I'm not saying that you shouldn't argue against the people making them. it's not the arguing I'm taking issue with. it's the claims being made and foul things being said regardless of if you and the other person are being serious about it. I just don't get why you seem determined to try to out-troll someone in this way, and double down on this line of argument when you're reposting something I said to encourage people not to fall into that trap. it's inconsistent.
I can't control what either of you did so it's whatever, I guess, but I can say my piece if I want to, too.
Hello. First of all, I apologize for bringing up rape in the other thread. The reason I did was because that weirdo initially wrote a whole fucking paragraph about how racist porn is bad because it's real, but mindless, fetishized rape porn is "just fiction." I was pointing out what I saw as that hypocrisy. It may have come across as ragebait to you, but we both know it wasn't. I think that's a pretty shallow reason to ignore the main point I was making. That said, we can just agree to disagree since we ultimately share the same opinion on the topic.
I read your reply, and I 100% agree with what you said. I still think the hypocrisy exists, though. I've seen plenty of people like that in the comments alone. At the same time, I agree that bringing up A when the discussion is about B can come across as whataboutism.
Anyway, thanks for keeping your replies respectful. You seem like a very articulate and thoughtful person, and I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective.

idk why some people who correctly identify the problems with racism/racial dynamics and the time period/setting in song of the wasteland keep falling for the rhetorical trap that is trying to compare various forms of abuse and historical atrocities.
it's not necessary! it's all human suffering! they're often interconnected!
it's not "which is worse between rape and racism", it's "how can we get people to mobilize against rape like they can for racism?"
see how one track of thinking can be more constructive than the other?
the people disingenuously bringing up other contentious topics in fiction under the pretense of addressing "hypocrisy" from the people who have been vocal about this one are forcing a false dichotomy that you don't have to accept! (nevermind that many of the same people who have been vocal about this will also be vocal about other things, they're just often shouted down and harassed by the people upset that this one doesn't also get a free pass.) the difference in response means that more people are better equipped to recognize, react, and condemn racism than they might be for exploitative relationships, abuse, rape, incest, and pedophilia (although i think pedophilia also gets more consistent pushback). that's because of extensive real life organizing and campaigning against racism! there have also been movements against abuse, domestic violence and rape, (remember Me Too?), but societal change is a multifaceted endeavor, and not comprehensive. not to mention that you can see how some people are indulging their racism and minimizing the horrors of history to defend and mourn this series, so it's not even like everyone is unanimously against racism!
with song of the wasteland, the combination of subject matter, visibility from the creator's popularity and international attention contributed to pressuring the platform and creator to change their plans. if anything, this situation suggests some tactics that people can use to address other issues if people are aware and organized enough. people were emailing the publisher directly about their concerns and being vocal on social media. if (unlike OP of this topic) you're someone who actually, seriously cares about how poorly things like exploitative relationships, abuse, rape, incest, and pedophilia are used in BL/media in general, it's time to start thinking tactically now that you know that things can change, instead of implying that people are hypocrites for... caring about racism and advocating against it here. you can increase potential allies instead of pushing them away!
