Rape, pedophilia, racism, and slavery are all bad and REAL scenarios. You can't say one is real while the other is "just fiction" simply because you have a rape fetish. These topics can be depicted with nuance in a mature way, but romanticizing such heavy subjects isn't alright, even if they're fictional.

If you hate one but enjoy the other, then you're a hypocrite.

I'm glad the artist was mature enough to cancel this after the deserved backlash it received, but this also made me realise just how normalized rape has become in fiction. I know we're probably never going to see the day Korean authors stop producing rapeslops because the audience has become so desensitized to it, and there are far too many rape fetishizers. And the worst fact is some of these authors don't even realise that it's rape they think it's toxic love and dark romance. Just like how this author wasn't even aware that they're romanticizing slavery

    Includes Japan too.
The issue is that rape is graphic, depicted, drawn, and eroticized.
They can talk about that topic by not drawing it, but they do which turn on lots of readers.
Most yaoi readers are rapists and rapist apologists

Ugh don't even get me started. They've literally legalized drawn CP. I see a lot of hypocrites in the comments who's apparently against racism in fiction but fine with rape and they're even openly admitting to enjoying it like how about we all agree on the fact that both are bad and should be equally condemned.

8 won't go as far as calling them rapists but they're definitely rape apologists and mentally challenged.

I don't understand when people say they have rape fantasies but some people also say that these stories helps some rape victim process their trauma? Idk how true is that here's a comment I've come across in reddit, that explain why they are fine with rape but not to this, you be the judge if it's hypocritical:

There is a BIG difference between safely exploring kinks and dark topics in fiction, and using real world settings and history in a way that disrespects real world issues.

Yeah, that's the excuse most rape lovers use to justify their rape fetish. And let me tell you, as a victim, I never found rape hot as a coping mechanism. There might be some who think that way, but that still doesn't justify them enjoying rape. There are so many healthy ways to cope, and enjoying rape in fiction is definitely not one of them. It's just a shallow excuse to add heaviness to their words.

Also, rape is not a kink. It can never be a kink. The right term is CNC, and it's a BDSM kink where both parties involved consensually roleplay non-consensual scenarios with prior consent (look it up). That's completely different from enjoying rape in fiction.

Rape happens in the real world. It has been happening for ages, and countless women have been raped throughout history. It's a real-world issue too, and that's exactly why it's not alright to normalize it, even if it's fiction.

There's no difference between mistreating rape and mistreating racism in fiction. Both are fucked up and should never be enjoyed. Those who think rape is alright but racism isn't are just hypocrites and rape lovers trying to justify their rape fetish.

This is a pretty sensible comment, but the issue I have is that rape kinks and fictional rape fetishes are very normal and not necessarily indicative of someone’s capacity to commit violence. And yes, many survivors do have those fetishes. No, it does not make them rape apologists by default. Anyone can be a rape apologist using this one simple tactic: excusing, enabling, or handwaving actual rape. The reason why people hold glorified racism in fiction under a different microscope is because most of the time, the people who write or draw racist shit have zero self awareness and are not making transgressive fiction to cope with the trauma of experiencing racism. They’re just punching down by reinforcing stereotypes and caricatures.

The average East Asian manhwa author will usually be blindsided by their own colorist and antiblack biases. If a black artist were to write a similar story and use the white saviorism trope in a subversive way, forcing the audience to think about the commodification of black bodies even in fiction, it definitely would’ve been received differently. Not saying that black people can write whatever they want without criticism, but their perspective when it comes to racism in fiction is way more valuable because they actually live it every day. Jaxx is a person living in a country that still uses slavery. Their perspective is never going to be comparable to that of someone who faces antiblackness. People are much more chill abt them drawing stories with rape/dubcon elements because at least you can argue that it comes from a misogyny-affected perspective seeking to sexually appeal to women who are also under constant threat of rape just by virtue of being a woman. There is no conceivable way they could’ve reclaimed the antiblack narrative and turned it into something good. Nobody is empowered by that. Least of all the Korean author. Jaxx has a lot of interesting stories to tell about sex and the taboo. But this specifically was not their place nor their right to tackle so clumsily. Anyways, good thread. I think we just need to use our critical thinking and review “problematic” fiction and those who enjoy it in a case by case scenario. It’s the only way the manhwa community will ever change.

"we can separate fiction from reality"
Then proceeds to harass, give death threats and rape threats to people over a fictional character who doesn't even exist like genuinely are y'all okay? Like i was really shocked to see this reply

I swear these people don't even know how much trauma rape victims go through before telling someone to "get raped". Wtf is wrong with some of you honestly. Idc if it's ragebait or not but telling someone to get raped is weird as fuck.Defending these glorified rape medias and the rapists continuously has rotted y'all minds sm that you don't even understand the gravity of the word.

Y'all really need to stop moral grandstanding in the comments section of a toxic bl manhwa on an illegal website. Fandom etiquette used to be that one would ignore tropes/stories that didn't suit their taste. Now people wade into fan spaces to condemn and preach and it's very unnecessary.
Bkoz at the end of the day, why people harp on JK being fictional (bkoz he is), it's because, WHO is coming to bl manhwa to learn morality or life lessons. We're all here cause we like seeing boys kiss...

And also the hypocrisy of ignoring EVERY other toxic bl top that's gone thru a redemption story to focus on this one is also very odd

Nothing, absolutely nothing ever justifies telling someone to get raped. Your fictional horse faced cartoon isn’t real. Calm your tits.

Also if you're telling others to get raped over a fricking fictional character then there's something wrong with you weirdass. You aren't sounding like some intellect you think you're.

Same I'm happy to see your comment, I'm honestly tired of some people in this comment section who constently go harrass every single person who says they didn't like X or Y thing in the story. Like we can't express an opinion without getting insulted or getting threatened (and this even when we are enjoying the story)
It's insane how crazy they become over a piece of fiction to the point of treating people like this
It's disgusting to see how far they go with their words.....

I know right! Like if you're going as far as to harasss and threaten people over a fictional media then no,you can't separate fiction from reality. And what's even more concerning is that most of them are minors.
