You know that’s not what they mean. No one wants to be kind to their rapist that if you already being forced to live with them or having Stockholm syndrome like jiwook now. But they mean that you as a victim shouldn’t “ do something back. Karma? Lmao rape and sexual crimes are the most reocurring crimes, if you think the justice system works most of the time and they get their karma going to jail you are or naive or uneducated

In my country even poor men walk free after commiting sa against women and kids. This karma thing is an excuse for people that dont wanna take matters in their own hands and judge the ones that have courage to do. It is pure cope. Some of the most cruel people are millionaries, this karma thing is a tool to stop masses from reacting towards cruelty to the innocent, just like religion is.

You dont need to explain for them and i can see you also agree with that notion. Society shames victims more for their reaction than they shame abusers for their action. Don’t assume things about me. I didn’t say what victims should or not do what i meant is whatever the victim choose to do they always gonna get the blame in todays society. victims like juhyeon now if he go out and say jiwook raped and abused me and jiwook play the victim card with I dont know, I dont remember doing such things, everyone gonna believe him and not juhyeon. The only one who remembers is juhyeon. Now even if he get his revenge everyone gonna think he is the crazy one instead of jiwook. I’m speaking now of what happens in my country. Predators get in jail but not for long, and the victim just suffers. I’m staying here to know more of juhyeons backstory though

First of all does he look like he will let jiwook do that? A victim that goes to this extense already abandoned any hope of being believed or that their abuser will get what they deserve by the legal means. It is better to kill your abuser or mentally creaple them than live knowing that they will do the same with several people. Victims like juyeon already abandoned the pseudo moral of "karma" they know it does not exist, they know it will never work. The last thing they are expecting is to be believed as they were never believed in the first place.

I agree with this full heartedly and it’s so well written made me cry ngl it reminds me of that poor 12 yr old girl that got raped so badly on a beach and I think killed- By 3 older boys ages 12, 13, 15 visiting the city for vacation and they’re trying to justify the boys actions and some recent badly horrific crimes against some animals truly heart breaking…

That is so extremely sad and the worst is that it is not freaking surprising at al, because it happens over and over and over. That is why when people talk about "justice" or "karma" I cant help but heavily disagree. Has any of these stuff effectively protected victims before? In my country they made a project to make it more difficult for kids to get an abortion if they get raped. Not a project to raise the consent age, not a project to get rapists more time in jail, no, a project to prevent kids from getting a health procedure that can save their lives. It is just depressing...

This whole discussion is boring as fuck. Can we talk about Juyeon’s revenge being a poor facade for his unresolved feelings for his rapist. Projecting your own feelings about rape and karma and justice don’t do much here when the arbiter of justice here gives up everything in order to wife up his former rapist. Juyeon was failed by the legal system and left unprotected by people in power. We as audience members are aghast by this, but Juyeon has a fantastic fuckin time abusing that man and loving on him at the same time. He hates that man for what he did but is irrevocably obsessed with him. I love my crazy rapist seme idgaf.

I think he deserved to get his lick back against Jiwook, but Juyeon doesn’t really give a fuck about other victims or “justice” for anyone but himself. He knew Jiwook ran revenge porn like he was pornhub for middle schoolers but was too lovestruck to do anything. Even when his mother’s health was ruined because of Jiwook’s actions, he still made the conscious choice to keep her and Jiwook in the dark about each other so they would both be in his life. I don’t even think that he as the victim owes it to his mom to not date his rapist, but he doesn’t respect her or himself enough to be honest. DESPITE being a model son who loved and cared for her even when he was still a traumatized minor and it not being his job, he started to slack on visiting her because he was too emotionally affected and boypussy drunk by some loser. And again, I’m not saying he is obligated to prioritize his mom for the rest of his life. But prioritizing the person who destroyed their family is definitely a choice. I like that he’s so messy, weird, and illogical. He’s done more for Jiwook by kidnapping him and holding him hostage in his house than Jiwook’s own family has tbh. To conclude, if you want to see a straightforward rape and revenge typa story where the survivor is fighting for themselves with no feelings attached, then go suffer through I Spit On Your Grave’s thirty minute rape scene.

I only read a few chapters of the novel before I had to stop but if I remember correctly jiwoo stood by or initiated a gang r*ped of juyeon when they were in middle school(?) so this is him getting revenge at some point it becomes quiete apparent that Jiwoo has hella trauma and maybe ptsd coz he starts hearing voices/having nightmares so Juyeon forces him to go to therapy and take antidepressants/anti-psychotics which doesn’t work coz then Jiwoo tries to kill himself and fails.. that’s as far as I got.

I just remember Juyeon like not understanding why Jiwoo would want to kill himself.. I was like yeah he’s never gonna change so I stopped reading it.

That’s why we need to know juhyeons backstory like asap so people know. I don’t want to hear it just from the spoilers and I can’t read the novel..
